You are correct, there is nothing Aussie about the Outback restaurants. They are not owned by Aussies and the menu is not Australian. It is embarassing that they can get away with it.

Guys i wouldn't assume MacDonald was what Americans call food. Do not assume that what is served in Outback steakhouses was authentic Aussie food.
Australian food is good honest food.
I've eaten in a few American restaurants none really stick on my mind as being great a worth a return visit.
I have also eaten in some over rated Aussie restaurants.
Much prefer home made food any day.

The food is much blander in Australia, and pretty gross. People don't know how to cook there.

It's just a theme for a restaurant, one that I can live with. I find that what the waiters wear and the designs of the restaurants match what you'll find in the Aussie Outback. However, the food has little to do with the actual country, aside from the "No Rules Burger" and the Lamb.

I found an Outback restaurant in Surfer's Paradise, a little ways from Brisbane. I think the restaurant is harmless.

American food is the best in the world. It's not pretentious and it tastes good. What else can I say?
