The Outback is a region of great beauty and grandeur that will leave you lasting images of Australias intense landscape. Although the word Outback in native dialect is considered really any area that is far away from urban areas. Outback is generally referring to locations more remote than an area called the bush which generally refers to any rural or undeveloped land or area.

In the province of New South Wales, the Outback features the Darling River which flows over 1700 miles making it the longest river in Australia. It is also considered the lifeblood for much of the wildlife even though it has run dry over 45 times and has a high salt content due to systemic droughts. It was also considered the greatest inland mode of travel from Brewarrina to Wentworth.

The outback in Australias Northern Territory is home to the Kakadu National Park and the Uluru/Ayers Rock. Aboriginal people share their 40,000 year old story with rock drawings and canvas. There are more than 5000 recorded art sites that depict Aboriginal culture over thousands of years.

The NT has very diverse and often contrasting environments along with intriguing and spectacular wildlife as you go from the deserts of Central Australia to the tropics of the Top End. You can expect an assortment of unique Australian pubs, amazing characters and enduring landscapes. Here you will find a number of colorful and down to earth characters that insist upon sharing a tale or two.

Many folks take the Ghan Train ride which allows travelers to enjoy the changing landscapes from the red desert of the outback to the tropical top end in the north. You can even take a camel ride through parts of the desert.

The Great Western Woodlands is the largest temperate woodland left on Earth. By sheer remoteness, this piece of land has mostly escaped the impact of industrialization and maintains a nearly preserved ecosystem. The vastness of the woodlands has assured that the hydrological patterns of thousands of years ago still operate and animal migrations are uninhibited. The plant life has as a metered impact on cloud formation.

The area contains a diversity of vegetation communities with islands of granite rock and natural salt lakes mixed in the sixteen million hectares of land. The woodlands is cut off by the world famous Rabbit Proof Fence to prevent human meddling represents 2 percent of Australias land mass. 20 percent of all known plant species indigenous to Australia are represented in the Great Western Woodlands. Nowhere else in the world are such volumes of Eucalytis trees found in such a profoundly dry climate.

I am sure you have heard and watched the movie Crocodile Dundee. And I am sure that you have been in love with the rugged, but very stylish clothes that Mick Dundee wore during the film. We loved the black leather hat that has crocodile teeth, walkabout pants, and his chest that wore an alligator vest. This began the outback style of clothing.

The outback style of clothing has been widely accepted by the people not because it was incredibly stylish, but also because it was highly functional as a protective type of clothing against harmful elements.

One of the most loved outback clothing is the oilskin coats which is highly useful in cold and wet weather. This is highly adored by horseback riders because it allows much freedom for the rider to move while making sure that they are protected from the sun wind and rain. They also have a back extension to protect the saddle of the horse. They also have leg straps to keep the rider in place, and extra long sleeves to protect the riders arms. There is also the lightweight outback hats that are wide brimmed with sufficient ventilation that is great for protecting against the ultraviolet rays of the sun.

Because the outback oilskin outfits has a special natural oil formula, it offers great protection against sun, snow, wind and rain. This is the reason why lots of equestrians, campers, hikers and motorbike lovers began using outback clothing because it is hip and stylish and highly functional.

Australia is a vast country almost as large as the contiguous United States and it is impossible to experience everything that the country has to offer in one visit. Some attractions should not be missed. These include both man-made and natural wonders as well as the fascinating culture and traditions of the countrys very first inhabitants.

Most visitors fly into Sydney, which has one of the most spectacular settings of any city in the world. Sydney is a vibrant, cosmopolitan city, although just visiting the citys many beautiful beaches is a popular activity. It also boasts two of the most instantly recognizable landmarks anywhere the Harbor Bridge and the Opera House. If you have a head for heights, do not miss the opportunity to walk across the top of the Sydney Harbor Bridge it is a once in a lifetime experience.

One highlight of a visit to Australia is the chance to experience the culture of the native Aborigines. Plenty of places throughout the country have Aboriginal art and crafts for sale, especially in the countrys famous Outback. The isolated town of Alice Springs makes an excellent base for exploring Aboriginal culture; and to really immerse yourself, consider taking an Aboriginal Culture Tour although you may be expected to eat traditional delicacies such as wasps.

No visit to Australia is complete without seeing one of the wonders of nature the Great Barrier Reef. The reefs statistics are staggering it stretches for about 1,200 miles along the eastern coast of Australia, and is home to an estimated 1,500 species of fish. Its supposedly the only living feature on earth visible from the moon. There are several ways to experience the reef you can sail around it and fly over it; but to dive in the clearwaters is a memorable experience.

Australias other big natural wonder is Uluru, or Ayers Rock, which is located about 260 miles from Alice Springs. You can see the rock that is considered the worlds largest monolith by flying over it, driving around it or hiking up it. Various tours are available from both Alice Springs and the resort of Ayers Rock. If you visit this resort, make sure you see the rock at sunset it is an unforgettable sight.

If you have the time, a three day journey by train from Sydney to Perth on the Indian Pacific is considered one of the worlds great rail journeys. It is fair to say that there are no sights along the way, other than the hypnotic spectacle of the vast emptiness of much of Australia. The trip includes the longest straight stretch of rail track anywhere, which is an almost 300-mile stretch across the Nullarbor Plain.

If you prefer to drive, a driving trip through Australias legendary Outback is a great way to see the country and appreciate its sheer size. You may not encounter much traffic but watch out for the so-called road trains – huge tractor-trailers up to fifty yards long; as well as Australias unique animals and birds. Broken Hill is a good place to soak up the atmosphere of the Outback. It is the home of the legendary Flying Doctor service, as well as a ghost town and an opal mine.

Most people imagine Australia to be dry and dusty, but the far north of the country is close to the equator and much of it consists of tropical rainforests. Townsville and Port Douglas both make good bases for exploring the tropical north, which contains some of the worlds oldest rain forests, as well as a huge variety of animal life. Take one of the many off-road guided tours that are available, or view the rainforest from the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, near Cairns.

Located in Australias Northern Territories is the huge Kakadu National Park, a World Heritage Sight which covers over 4 million acres. A favorite activity is simply observing the wildlife and the park boasts an estimated 75 species of reptile and over 200 species of birds. The park is also one of the few places in Australia where Aborigines live off the land and exist much as they have done for centuries.

Australian wines are considered to be some of the best in the world and you can spend an enjoyable vacation visiting vineyards and sampling wines. Many people visit the well-known Hunter Valley wine region because of its close proximity to Sydney, although the nicest region for wine tasting is arguably the Barossa region, a German-speaking area about an hour away from Adelaide.

One activity you should not miss is simply getting to know the Australian people, who are friendly and outgoing. The language is the same although you may be puzzled by references to mysterious things such as sheilas, billabongs and the ever-popular shrimp on the Barbie!

The all wheel drive Subaru Outback has proven a highly popular choice in Australia, especially among those who often find themselves driving on country roads. With the styling and finish we have come to expect from Subaru, the Outback offers a viable option to the many soft-roaders and off-roaders available on the Australian market.

The Subaru Outback is an impressive wagon that feels as comfortable on the dirt or snow and ice as it does on the tar. With Subaru’s renowned symmetrical all wheel drive system providing a higher level of grip, power and balance, the Subaru Outback is sure-footed wherever it is being driven. While the Subaru Outback is not a true off-road vehicle, it does have off-road capabilities that will get you out of trouble if need be. The Subaru Outback makes a great towing vehicle too.

The Outback is available in five different models:
Outback 2.5i
Outback 2.5i Safety
Outback 2.5i Premium
Outback 3.0R, and
Outback 2.0R Premium.

The basic model Outback 2.5i has all the features you would expect from Subaru including four wheel disc ABS brakes, dual front and front side airbags, 6 speaker stereo, cruise control, leather steering wheel, climate control air conditioning and 16″ alloy wheels.

At the top end, the Outback 3.0R Premium includes a 6 stacker CD player, leather trim, a dual sunroof, Momo leather steering wheel with audio controls, 8 way power driver’s seat and 17″ alloys.

If you’re in the market for a one owner used car, then check out the Subaru Outback H6 six-cylinder over the earlier four-cylinder models. These will cost a bit more, but will be worth the extra money. As many of these used Subaru Outbacks will have ventured off the bitumen at some stage, check for damage under the car. Also, check for sand in or under the carpets. If you find any, be aware that the car may have been on the beach, so it might be best to keep looking elsewhere. An important point to remember also is that Subaru offers a 3 year unlimited kilometre warranty, so if you can, go for one that is under three years old and take advantage of the unlimited kilometre warranty.

The Subaru Outback is a great car if you’re looking for a car that will stick to the road on long trips and will keep you safe when driving on snow or ice. While it has ability off the road, you’ll always feel like you’re driving a car.

Taking a trip to Australia can be a once in a lifetime experience. In this regard, before you depart on an Australian trip, you will want to take a general look at the different Australian attractions that are available to you. Of course, the Australian attractions that will be available to you, that you will want to consider, depends on where in the country you will be venturing. Through this article you will be provided with a look at different Australian attractions as well as your Australian accommodation options.

When considering Australian attractions, you would be hard pressed to find another country on the planet that has such varied and unique offerings than does Australia. For example, the Sydney Opera House is one of the most iconic structures to be found anywhere and really is a must see venue for a person on an Australian holiday (as is the entire City of Sydney for that matter when it comes Australian attractions).

At the other extreme, when you move away from the cosmopolitan vibrancy of a place like Sydney to another of the major Australian attractions the Outback you feel nearly as if you have stepped into another world. Indeed, from thriving metropolitan areas like Sydney to challenging, undeveloped portions of the country like the bush and the Outback, it truly can be said of Australian attractions that there is something for everyone.

Of course, in addition to Australian attractions, if you are interested in a trip to this amazing country you are also going to want to consider your Australian accommodation options. In this regard you also will find that you have many different options. Once again, there really is something for everyone when it comes to the subject of Australian accommodation options that will be available to you on your holiday Down Under.

For example, if you are like many people who enjoy relaxing and recreating on the beach, when it comes to Australian accommodation options, there is a tremendous variety of different types of resorts and hotels that do line the major beach areas of the island.

On the other hand, if you are more inclined to take in the sites of the country, there are some very affordable Australian accommodation options that are available to you throughout the country. In other words, you can travel across Australia and continually have access to a decent selection of different types of affordable Australian accommodation options from east to west and from north to south.

In making decisions both on the Australian attractions that you might want to see while traveling Down Under as well as your Australian accommodation options, you definitely will want to use the Internet as a resource in your pre-travel planning. By using the Net, you will be able to stake out the most ideal trip to the unbelievable Land Down Under. You will be able to craft and create a once in a lifetime trip to Australia that will make memories for you that will last forever.
